Is an aqueous solution of NaHSO4 acidic, basic, or neutral? What reaction occurs with water? (Use the lowest possible coefficients. Include states-of-matter under SATP conditions in your answer.) I know it is acidic, but what is the equation? i keep getting it wrong

It is acidic. Oxygen in water acts like a base. So it will take the proton wich is acidic from the bisulphate. You already know NaHSO4 Dissociates into Na(+) + HSO4(-) Now HSO4 - reacts with water to form: HSO4(-) + H2O <-----> SO4(-) + H3O (+) hope it works any extra question just ask me back =P

thanks man, it worked. i wrote NaHSO4 + H2O <-> H3O+ + Na+ + SO4 2- but i guess i didnt have to include the Na.
