I'm having a hard time understanding this.. I just need help on any one of these and hopefully I can do the rest. Give the number of d electrons associated with the central metal ion in each of the following complexes. K3[Fe(CN)6] [Sr(EDTA)]2- [Mn(H2O)6](NO3)2 Na[Ag(CN)2] Na2[CoCl4]

Hey, how r u doing I hope i can help you so u just don't have hard time anymore lol. Going to make it for the first one The central atom is Fe. Oxidation number of this atom is +3. How do I know it? CN is -1 and the complex is not charged. Fe is [Ar] 3d6 4s2. Electrons in s orbital leave first. So you will have 3 electrons left, 2 from the s orbital and one from d. At the end you have only 5 electrons in the d orbital, and that is what you are looking for
